In the last century human life expectancy has increased by 30 years. Some call these years the "bonus years." An exhibition at ATHICA calls them "The Third Act." Whatever you call them these years give today's older population time to continue learning and enjoying life as well as presenting some new challenges.
Lizzy Saltz, curator of The Third Act: contemplating aging at the Athens Institute for Contemporary Art (ATHICA), will conduct a gallery tour of works by nine artists who have created thought provoking and sensitive art in a variety of media exploring this extension in human life. The gallery tour is free and open to the public and will be archived on this website for those who can not attend in person. ATHICA is located at 160 Tracy Street, Athens, GA.

The gallery talk is made possible in part by a leadership grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services awarded to the Athens Regional Library System and Lyndon House Arts Center called Reflecting, Sharing, Learning.
Other programs sponsored by ATHICA to help patrons enjoy and explore the ideas in this exhibition are listed on their website. ATHICA is an independent, non-profit gallery promoting and supporting innovative contemporary art and artists through exhibitions, education, and events.
